Song of the Dolphin Boy
The children wanted to do a mind map explaining why litter is bad for the Oceans and Sea life. They have loved the book so far and feel sad about what is happening. They have really thought about what harm can be caused to the Dolphins, Turtles and other sea life.

15th Nov 2019, 5:04pmIt is one of the most important purposes of reading isn't it - to connect with the world and to have an emotional response to the themes and issues the author is raising in their writing. Many authors feel very strongly about the decline of our oceans. You can find out about their wonderful stories at https://www.authors4oceans.org/29th Nov 2019, 2:00pmIn one of our sessions the children went onto the website and have done some research. It makes them feel sad when they see pictures of how the sea life and Oceans are being treated.3rd Dec 2019, 10:39amIt is so important children are exposed to books that raise issues that affect all of us. Song of the Dolphin Boy is the ideal vehicle with which to discuss the issues facing our planet. I hope discussing Ocean pollution within the context of the story has helped the children to understand the issues and even be motivated into action! We have had some very moving submissions this month. -
