What Do You Think?

This grid, based on Aidan Chambers Tell Me, is a useful support for children’s note-making between sessions. Use it it initiate discussion and to help children become more analytical about their questions.

Encourage the children only to include authentic responses, rather than feeling they have to fill boxes. 1 genuine response is more valuable than 10 that mean very little to the reader.

Encourage children to look back and review their grids to see if any of their responses have changed during the course of reading: whether they have been able to answer their questions, or whether new questions have emerged.
