Witham, Braintree and Tiptree Challenge 2017
Howbridge Reading Gladiators really enjoyed their first session today choosing and rehearsing poetry to perform in our assembly on World Book Day. They have chosen two: ‘The Boneyard Rap’ and ‘People Need People’.
Just Imagine comment: Hello Howbridge Gladiators – what a great idea. I think we will share that with other schools as I am sure they will want to have a go too. Well done everyone!
Silver End Primary School – Villain Recipes
We had a discussion about what makes a character a villain. Are they always ugly? Are they really bad or just misunderstood? Then we wrote some recipes for a perfect villain for a story. We hope you like them!
Just Imagine comment: Hello Silver End Gladiators. It sounds as though you have been having some very deep discussions. I wonder if it depends on the kind of story that you are reading?
Year 4 Notley Green Primary School
We are enjoying the Gladiator Reading Challenge so far….
Just Imagine comment: hello Notley Green Gladiators. We can’t wait to hear what you have been doing in your group. Glad to hear you are enjoying yourselves.
Silver End Gladiators – Spooks and Scooters
We have really enjoyed reading Spooks and Scooters. As we have been reading through the chapters we have been putting together a “Suspect Board” and writing down any clues we come across about who has stolen the blue prints. We only have a few chapters left! Will we work out who it is before the end? We hope so!
Just Imagine comment: Hello Silver End Gladiators! Thank you for posting your update. That suspect board is a really cool idea. When you find out who the culprit is, perhaps you can track back to see if Elen left some clues for you.
Howbridge Gladiators- Spooks and Scooters
So excited to read the next few chapters of this new mystery story. In our first meeting, we enjoyed asking questions about the author and discussing what clues the front cover might be giving away about the plot.
Just Imagine Comment. Hello Howbridge Gladiators! I wonder what clues you found on the cover? We look forward to reading your updates.
The Challenge Begins
Welcome Gladiators. Are you ready for the challenge?
You will be reading eight brilliant books with us this year. And you can tell us all about it, here on the Reading Gladiators website. We like to hear your thoughts and see photographs and videos of you work. You can also enter our monthly competitions to win prizes. And just for fun, find out how well you know a book by doing a quiz after you have finished reading it.
Have a look and see what other schools are doing in your area and across the country; you are bound to pick up some good ideas.
