  • Word of Mouse book box

One photo barely does justice to this detailed and inventive book box based on Word of Mouse from one of our Year 4 Reading Gladiators. I loved the use of quotes from the book but best of all I like the mouse and the trap!

Superb! What a delightfully creative response. I am glad to see the long lasting influence Word of Mouse has had on this reader. The physical act of making the book box will have consolidated their new knowledge and emotional connection with characters and what they represent. And what a wonderful resource for other readers too.
  • Little Bits of Sky-Memory Book Pages

The Percy Shurmer Academy Year 4 group really enjoyed making their own pages to add to the memory book in Little Bits of Sky. It was so hard to choose one moment to write about, as there were so many great moments to choose from. We hope you like them!

Thank you Percy Shurmer gladiators. This activity is the mini-challenge for Little Bits of Sky. If you have time could you photograph the pages separately (and preferably put into a powerpoint so it is one entry) and submit via the submission tab. It can then be included in the competition. Thank you.
  • New year, new book.

Year 4 Reading Gladiators at Broad Heath are excited to start their new true story book. We had a discussion about the front cover regards Floellas feelings and we are looking to see how this story unfolds for her.

Great to hear this Frederick Bird. I hope he was impressed with your Gladiatorial status!
  • Malkin Moonlight

Reading gladiators have enjoyed splitting into two groups to create their journey of Malkin. They remembered the places he visited and the different animals he saw and helped along the way.

Just a reminder that mini-challenge entries need to be submitted as follows to be in with a chance of a prize. I'm afraid November's deadline has passed but I am glad to hear your Gladiators enjoyed the activity and I'm sure it will have helped them to consolidate the plot. Submitting a mini-challenge entry: Ensure you are logged on. Select Submission from the top menu bar. Select the relevant deadline link from the book that the mini-challenge is for. In the Title box enter your school name and the name of the mini-challenge/book. Select your file from your documents. You can add a description in the box provided should you wish.
